October 2025 - Special Honors and Appreciation go to Dr. Sam George, completing this year his role as a (double-term, 10-year) Catalyst for Global Diasporas with Lausanne. Special tribute was made on Friday, Oct. 4, 2025 and was given by Dr. TV Thomas --thanking Dr. Sam and wife Mary for their many years of personal friendship and dedication to the Diaspora cause within Lausanne, mentioning too Sam's authorship of numerous books and groundbreaking articles on the topic of global diasporas. Sam's role in the Latin American Consultation also included a "Diaspora Reading of the Book of Ruth" -- bringing to fore new approaches in Exegesis and Hermeneutics that includes changing geography and the "Motus Dei." Noted during the Latin American Consultation were the Lausanne Occasional Papers #70 & 78 (being published in English, Portuguese and Spanish -- provided for all attendees). Sam's role with previous consultations for Africa and Asia were also highlighted, as well as the Reflections of Asian Diaspora (vol #1-#3).
The Latin American Diaspora Consultation was followed by the Brazilian Congress of Missions (Oct. 6-10, 2025), also in Aguas de Lindoia, Brazil. Some 120+ Mission agencies were represented; 2,000 in attendance. Dr. TV Thomas, Dr. Bulus Galadima and Rev. Joel Wright were in attendance, witnessing the growing strength of the Latin American mission workforce. Side sessions were on the Brazilian & Latin American Diasporas; Fabiana Braun announcing "Brazilians on the Move".
